What if we are approaching this wrong?
Imagine a culture where feedback is continuous, support is consistent, and transparency is saturated. So much so that Exit Interviews hold no surprises. While perfection is certainly unattainable, and not everyone can be pleased, striving for that level of communication is what separates the good organizations from the amazing ones.
The real value is not in perfecting the Exit Interview, it is in making communication necessary. It is about shifting from a "post-mortem" assessment of why people leave to a "pro-active care" model, focusing on understanding why people stay with the organization.
